A word from our CEO: why Peerdom 5 matters

Bastiaan Van Rooden

Years of conversations with our clients have come together in one vision: the Google Maps of the workplace. This is what Peerdom 5, our biggest release yet, brings, and why it matters for how your organization works.

It has been a while since you last heard from us, and there is a reason. We spent the past year rebuilding Peerdom from the ground up. Today I want to show you what that means for your organization.

Peerdom 5 in three and a half minutes, shown in the product itself.

Peerdom 5 is the most work we have ever put into a single release. We redesigned every screen, down to the smallest button. We made it easier to use. We made it fast enough that even large, complex maps open and navigate instantly. We hardened its security, and your data stays in Switzerland, as promised. In design, ease of use, speed and security, this is the best Peerdom we have ever built.

Here is what is new, in short:

  • The Bubble Map, an org chart that looks the way living organizations behave.
  • Flows and Proposals, two new apps that put the map to work.
  • Digital colleagues, AI agents that hold a role on your map, next to the people.
  • Your own apps, to capture the data that matters to you and show it on the map.

I want to tell you why we put so much into it.

Built from years of listening

Peerdom 5 didn’t start on a drawing board. It grew out of years of conversations with the organizations that use Peerdom every day: in workshops, in support chats, in feedback sessions, in long calls about what works and what still gets in the way.

From all those exchanges, one picture became clear. Organizations need one place where three things come together:

  • Data: who does what, who holds which role, who works with whom.
  • Governance: who decides what, and how decisions are made.
  • Operations: the goals, processes and work that keep the organization moving.

When these three live in one place, something remarkable happens. A hybrid team, spread over offices, homes and time zones, can work almost as if everyone sat in the same room.

The Google Maps of the workplace

From the very beginning, we had one image in mind: the Google Maps of the workplace.

Think of what a good map does. You don’t read it, you see it. You know at a glance where you are, where you want to go and which way to take. Nobody has to explain it to you.

That is how we think about organizations. Most of what describes how a company works is buried in text and tables: job descriptions, spreadsheets, org charts that were outdated the day they were printed. We make that information visual, so everyone can understand it at a glance and act in the interest of their team and their company, without anyone having to explain it.

The org chart, evolved: the Bubble Map

With Peerdom 5, the org chart takes its next step: the Bubble Map.

Work is organic. Teams grow, merge, split and reshape themselves, and in the age of AI they do it faster than ever. A company has to adapt fast, and everyone has to be able to follow, together.

The Bubble Map respects that. Instead of forcing your organization into boxes and lines, it lets the shape grow out of the structure you actually have. It looks the way living organizations behave. And it still shows, at a glance, who belongs where.

An organization in the Bubble Map: one flowing outline holds the whole company, and inside it the teams float as rounded cells, each holding its roles and the people who fill them The Bubble Map: one outline for the whole organization, every team a cell, every role inside its team.

New apps that put the map to work

A map becomes truly valuable when you can act on it. Peerdom 5 brings new apps that do exactly that:

  • Flows maps your processes, step by step, right next to the roles that carry them.
  • Proposals lets anyone in your organization suggest a structural change, so the people closest to the work help shape it.

Humans and AI agents, on the same map

AI agents are becoming part of how work gets done. The question is no longer whether they join your organization, but how they fit into it.

In Peerdom 5, you can bring AI agents directly into your org chart as digital colleagues. Each one holds a role, just like a person does, with clear responsibilities and a human on your team who stays accountable for it. Humans and agents coexist on one map, and everyone can see who, or what, takes care of which work.

Make Peerdom your own

And to round it off: you can now build your own apps.

Every organization has lists that live in a spreadsheet somewhere: the holiday sheet, the overview of who has which laptop and key, the first-aid certificates and when they expire. With App Builder, you describe the app you need in one sentence, and it appears in Peerdom with its fields, its access rights and its place on the map. Absences show who covers for whom. A certificate close to expiring stands out on the person who holds it. Nobody writes code, nothing new needs hosting, and you are never alone with what you build: we keep it working as Peerdom evolves.

It only becomes real in your hands

Peerdom 5 is the result of years of listening, learning and building. But it only becomes meaningful in your hands.

We can’t wait to see what your company will look like on the map, how it will work, and what it makes possible for the people in it.

If you have any questions about Peerdom 5 or about how it could work for your organization, I’m personally available. Write to me at bastiaan@peerdom.org.
