Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions
It tracks and visualizes how each person’s time is distributed across their roles. You can set contribution percentages per role, define targets, and instantly see who’s overloaded or which roles are understaffed.
A searchable, filterable view of everyone in your organization — with table and card views, sortable columns, custom fields, and a context sidebar for quick previews. It also includes SSO integration.
Drafts lets you create sandbox versions of your org chart where you can experiment with structural changes — without affecting the live map. When you’re satisfied, publish the draft to go live.
It tracks when role holders’ terms expire and shows a visual timeline of upcoming re-elections. Owners get weekly email reminders for roles that need attention.
A peer-to-peer feedback system where feedback is always role-contextual — given from one role to another. This creates clarity about the working relationship and ensures feedback is specific and actionable.
Yes, Peerdom is fully GDPR compliant with Swiss data protection standards:
- Data Processing Agreement with clear GDPR warranties
- Right to data portability - export your organizational data anytime
- Right to deletion - remove accounts and associated data
- Privacy by design - minimal data collection, maximum transparency
Swiss privacy laws provide additional protection beyond GDPR requirements. Full compliance details are in our Data Processing Agreement section 10.
It lets you set qualitative objectives for any group or role, with measurable subgoals for tracking progress — making it ideal for OKR-style planning.
It overlays analytical data directly on your org map, helping you spot patterns like unstable roles, scattered workloads, and overloaded team members — like a health check for your organization.
Every modification in Peerdom — role assignments, group creation, purpose updates, goal completions, project changes, network affiliations, and more. Each entry shows who did what, and when.
Missions lets every person in your organization share their personal mission statement — why they’re here, what drives them, and what they want to contribute. It goes beyond job titles to build genuine connection.
The most popular apps that organizations use daily include:
Contribution app - See who’s working on what across your organization
Drafts app - Map current and future states for organizational planning and M&A
Project app - Visualize project relationships and dependencies
Goals app - Align individual and team objectives
These core apps work together to create transparency and alignment in growing organizations.
The Network app lets your organization establish trusted connections — called affiliations — with other Peerdom organizations. You can see each other’s structures with controlled access levels.
A wiki-style documentation tool that lets you create rich content pages and link them directly to your organizational structure — groups, roles, or people.
Peerdom offers three plans:
- Peerdom (Free, up to 10 accounts)
- Peerdom+ (5 CHF/month, includes Journal/Missions/Network apps, extra apps +1 each)
- Peerdom Pro (15 CHF/month, all apps included)
Yearly prices shown - monthly subscriptions cost 20% more. Pricing is displayed in your local currency automatically.
It lets you manage temporary work initiatives alongside your permanent organizational structure. Unlike roles (which are ongoing), projects are time-bound with defined scope, assigned roles, and optional external tool links.
Yes — Peerdom’s showcase features 48+ live organizational maps from real companies, NGOs, cooperatives, and startups. Each map is interactive: you can explore teams, roles, and people in real time. Unlike static org chart templates, these are actual organizations using Peerdom daily to visualize their structure.
Self-management software makes distributed authority visible and governable. Instead of relying on a management hierarchy to assign tasks and approve decisions, self-management software lets teams define roles, decision rights, and accountabilities explicitly — so anyone can see who owns what and act with autonomy.
Peerdom is self-management software that works with any framework: holacracy, sociocracy, the Spotify model, or your own hybrid approach. It provides a real-time organizational map, governance tools, elections, feedback loops, and modular apps that adapt to how your organization actually operates.
Peerdom is like Google Maps, but for your organization - an interactive map that helps orient and navigate your organizational structure. It’s a web-based software that runs directly in your browser on desktop, mobile, or tablet (no downloads needed).
Unlike static org charts, Peerdom helps you break down silos, onboard faster, and give everyone the context to act with confidence during times of change.
Peerdom apps work seamlessly together within your organizational map. Each app adds context and functionality while maintaining a unified view of your organization.
Cross-app connections: Projects link to contributors, goals connect to teams, feedback flows between roles, and insights aggregate data across all apps.
For external integrations, Peerdom focuses on being your central organizational hub that complements your existing workflow tools.
We automatically bill your membership fee according to your plan until cancelled. Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel before the next billing period.
You can cancel anytime through your subscription management page. Cancellation takes effect from the next billing period, meaning no future charges will occur. We do not provide refunds for the current billing period you’ve already paid for.
Contribution is about allocation, not logged hours. It shows how much of someone’s capacity is dedicated to each role — useful for planning and balance, not timesheets.
Azure AD (Microsoft Entra ID), Google Workspace, Okta, and any SCIM-compatible identity provider.
It becomes an archived draft. You can always restore any previous version by publishing that archived draft, so nothing is ever lost.
No. Elections tracks term dates and expiration. The actual voting or selection process happens outside Peerdom — in meetings, via polls, or however your organization decides.
No. All feedback shows who gave it and from which role. Transparency and accountability are core to the design.
Each goal can have multiple subgoals with three measurement types: complete/incomplete, percentage (0–100%), or target number (e.g., “Acquire 50 customers — currently at 30”). Goal progress is auto-calculated from the average of all subgoals.
Three: Role Turnover (identifies roles with frequent personnel changes), Cell Scatter (spots teams whose members are spread too thin), and Role Hoarding (highlights where single individuals hold too much decision-making power).
The Journal retains your complete history from the day your organization was created. There is no automatic purging or retention limit.
No. Missions are completely optional. People can add one whenever they’re ready — or not at all.
Three levels. Basic (view structure with anonymized names), Regular (view structure with full names and contact info), and High (edit access plus visibility into the other organization’s extended network).
Pages are built from content cards: rich text (with markdown formatting, headers, lists, links, code blocks) and images (JPG, PNG, up to 25 MB).
Using a role-first approach: you select which roles are needed for the project, then choose specific holders from those roles. This ensures projects are built around responsibilities, not individuals.
Peerdom offers a free plan for up to 10 accounts with all core features included — interactive maps, multiple views (circle, tree, pyramid, radial, 3D), and powerful search. You can create your organizational map at no cost and make it public so others can explore it too.
Peerdom is perfect for organizations going through change and growth:
- Growing companies scaling their teams and structure
- Organizations in transition (mergers, acquisitions, transformations)
- Remote and hybrid teams needing clarity on roles and connections
- Self-organizing teams moving beyond traditional hierarchies
Peerdom supports every major self-management framework without locking you into any single methodology. This includes holacracy (roles, circles, governance meetings), sociocracy (consent-based decisions, double-linked circles), the Spotify model (squads, tribes, chapters, guilds), Beta Codex, Buurtzorg, Semco Style, RenDanHeYi, and role-based governance. Peerdom also works for organizations that blend multiple frameworks or use their own custom approach to distributed authority.
Percentage (default), FTE, hours per week, hours per month, or hours per year. The unit is set organization-wide in Settings.
Your organizational data is stored exclusively in Switzerland using Swiss hosting providers including Google Cloud Platform (Zürich), Exoscale (Lausanne), Cyon (Basel), and Infomaniak (Geneva).
Some services like payments and emails use third-country providers with adequate data protection measures as outlined in our Data Processing Agreement (DPA).
An automatic sync runs daily. New users in your identity provider are added to Peerdom; removed users are marked as “left.” Names, emails, and avatars stay in sync. Owners can also trigger a manual sync anytime.
Yes. You can copy or move specific groups and roles between maps without publishing the entire draft — perfect for incremental changes.
As a vertical timeline grouped by urgency: roles with no holders or expired terms appear at the top in red; upcoming elections appear further down in green, organized by date range (next 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, etc.).
Yes. Only the giver and receiver can see the feedback text. Even Owners cannot view feedback between other people.
Getting started with Peerdom is simple:
- Sign up for free - No credit card required
- Add your team - Invite colleagues to join your organizational map
- Map your structure - Start with roles and relationships you know
- Try the apps - Each app has a 15-day trial to explore features
The platform runs in your browser, so there’s nothing to download or install. Most teams see value within their first week of mapping.
Yes. With the Goals layer enabled, progress rings appear around nodes — green for completed, orange for remaining work. A full green ring means the goal is complete.

Traditional org charts are static snapshots created and maintained by leadership. Peerdom decentralizes the effort and brings clarity to everyone in the organization:
- Updates in real-time as your organization evolves (not just when management updates it)
- Everyone contributes - roles and relationships are visible to everyone, maintained by many
- Shows multiple views (circles, trees, pyramids, 3D) not just hierarchy
- Includes powerful apps for projects, goals, feedback, and insights
+1 CHF per user per month on top of your Peerdom+ subscription.
Yes. With the Projects layer enabled, projects appear as grey arcs around their associated group. Connectors show which roles are assigned.
An org chart tool draws boxes and lines — typically showing reporting relationships in a hierarchy. Self-management software goes further. It maps roles (not just positions), defines authority and decision rights, supports governance processes like elections and consent-based policy changes, and evolves in real time as your organization changes.
Peerdom replaces static org charts with an interactive, searchable organizational map where anyone can find who decides what, what each role is accountable for, and how teams connect across the organization.
Any Peerdom organization can enable public access from the map settings. Once published, your map gets a shareable link at peerdom.org/your-slug that anyone can explore — no login required. Public maps also become eligible for the showcase directory, giving your organization additional visibility.
Our Peerdom Billing System allows organization owners to manage subscriptions directly:
- Upgrade anytime to Peerdom+
- Add peers and apps automatically - charges are prorated until your next renewal
- Modify or cancel subscriptions at any time
- View payment details including who paid and last 4 credit card digits
- Self-service management - no need to contact support
Only organization owners (highest access level) can access billing features.

The showcase includes a diverse range: NGOs, tech startups, cooperatives, enterprises, municipalities, and educational institutions. Organizations practicing holacracy, sociocracy, and other self-management frameworks are well represented, but Peerdom works equally well for traditional hierarchies. The common thread is a commitment to organizational transparency.

Yes. A project scoped to one group can include roles from anywhere in the organization. This shows that accountability lies with one team while expertise may come from elsewhere.
Peerdom is free forever for teams of up to 10 people — no credit card required. For larger organizations, Peerdom+ starts at CHF 5 per user per month and includes the full suite of 11 modular apps, SSO, API access, and priority support. Enterprise plans with custom integrations and dedicated support are also available. See the pricing page for details.
Static org chart templates are snapshots that go stale the moment someone changes roles. Peerdom maps are live and interactive — they update in real time as the organization evolves. You can zoom into teams, search across the entire structure, switch between multiple views (circle, tree, pyramid, 3D), and see real people in real roles. It’s the difference between a paper map and Google Maps.
Contribution is the most popular add-on — used by 80% of Peerdom customers. Most use it for directional signals rather than precision: if someone holds 10 roles, contribution shows at a glance where they focus most.
After your subscription ends, we delete all your personal data in accordance with data protection requirements. This includes your organizational maps, user profiles, and all uploaded content.
We may retain certain data only if legally required (e.g., invoicing records). Once legal retention periods expire, this data is also deleted.
For details, see our Data Processing Agreement, Section 2.
Yes. In table view, you can show or hide columns (including custom fields), reorder them, and sort by any column. Your preferences are saved across sessions and devices.
Drafts display a distinctive blueprint-style background (blue grid pattern) to prevent any confusion.
Every Wednesday, Owners receive an email listing roles that need re-election in the upcoming week. A notification badge also appears on the Elections app icon.
It updates the existing feedback rather than creating a new entry — keeping feedback consolidated per role relationship.
Goals answer “what do we want to achieve?” (outcomes with measurable progress). Projects answer “what are we working on?” (temporary work initiatives with people assigned). They complement each other.
Role Turnover uses 3 months of history. Cell Scatter and Role Hoarding use current role assignments.
